Blue Water Sportsman’s Association Jr. Smallbore Program “Personal Development Through Marksmanship”
Marksmanship Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program 4-Position Rifle Qualification    The core activity of Jr. Smallbore is the advancement through the Winchester/NRA 4P Rifle Qualification Program.  This program teaches 4 Position rifle skills and awards shooters for their achievements with rankings and medals. The rifles we supply are precision target rifles. This allows us the ability to offer interested shooters an opportunity to participate in precision rifle league competition as well as travel to sanctioned matches.  This is a path for serious shooters to advance toward collegiate rifle competition.  We are proud and happy to provide the equipment and environment, for the youth of our community, to sample this great sport without having to first purchase their own equipment. Precision rifle is an NCAA sport as well as an Olympic sport.  This means that scholarships are available for precision shooters to aspire to.  It is also a lifetime sport for those of us that simply enjoy the camaraderie and challenge of competitive shooting.  Self-Improvement  Success in Precision shooting requires a positive attitude and develops responsibility, concentration, focus, awareness, analytical thinking & problem solving, self-control, self-discipline, goal setting, perseverance and learning to deal with achievement and disappointment.  These are the attributes of successful precision rifle shooters and are traits that will serve the athlete well throughout life. We meet on Tuesdays from October to April starting at 5:45pm. Doors open at 5:00pm, arrive & set up 5:15-5:30pm shooting starts at 5:45pm. We have a maximum of 10 shooters per relay and 3 relays in one night on a first come first serve basis. Anshutz Jr. & Kimber Std. precision target rifles, ammo & accessories are provided for $6.00/relay (a relay is 3 targets of 10 record bulls). First and foremost we teach safety.  Safe use of rifles is our first priority. 1.  ALWAYS keep the gun pointed in a safe direction. 2.  ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot. 3.  ALWAYS keep the gun unloaded until ready to use.
